1222 Code and Rough Idle ?

I have checked for vacum leaks and even broke down and bought a gauge. I see over 25 in/hg of vacuum which is better than everage.

I have checked my fuel pump and it showed a little high at the rail but it did jump as it is supposed to when I dsconnected the vacuum line on the FPR.

Another odd thing is at idle it does not seem to care if I take the oil cap off or remove the dip stick. I seem to remember that either of these would normaly cause major vacuum issues.

I have checked the Oxy sensor and all readings are in spec but they are really low at idle and if I let it sit it wants to drop below the 0.020 minimum. As soon as I give it gas the oxy pics up but it idles at the bottom of its indicated range. The oxy heater is working and all is well with that part. Still getting 1222. Also I should note that the car runs great it just idles poorly and signals code.

    Input apprecaited.

Join the ($*%(**$! club. My 1990 does the same. jlevie posted a checklist, I went through it... I've owned the car for 11 years now and it seems to require attention constantly. Hot starts have always been problematic, now I get 1222 as well and for ~60 seconds from a cold start the car is COMPLETELY intractable. Oh, as a bonus, I get 21mpg...

Uh... wait wait wait: you have an S50 though?

Yup it is an S50. I am leaning toward the Oxy being toast but before I go through all of that I want to ellimanate any other things that may be cheaper or free.

Guarantee you still have a vacuum leak. Get a smoke test done.

This happened to me and it turned out that my intake manifold had a hairline crack I could not have found without the smoke tester.

There you go, I would replace the 02 sensor anyway.

Thanks. I read that but I have never gotten a code as listed and I have always gotten 12v at the sensor(when I remembered to read it correctly).

I am going to have a smoke test done next week to be certain I have no vacuum leaks.

So it turns out that the car was going into closed loop and then trying to work with the AFM and oxy at idle. The issue was the oxy was giving out nearly no existent readings at idle and usable readings at rpm. New oxy and some adaption and I think I have it taken care of. Car still gets lope at idle but ltw flywheel and tuning With larger injectors will cause that to be more prevalent.
