You can use those style mounts, and from my experience they hold up much better than the e28 mounts. Although i'm using mounts from a 740i which may be a different height/strength.

After reading this thread I did some looking into the e28 mounts -- are people using just the cylindrical or just the non-cylindrical? or one of each like oem m5? Ive read both ways

Your using the wrong mounts and in the wrong hole it looks like.

E21 mounts with bolt in hole closest to frame rail. Mounted up just fine.

unbolt the arms and slide them back to the next available 4 holes, and buy e28 green motor mounts
