    WTF DME problem

    Yo sup guys.
Im having this problem where my car randomly shuts off but itll turn back on if I unplug and plug the ECU in. There are about 4 wires going to the ECU that look pretty burnt up. Also the ECU gets pretty decently hot. Thoughts? Bad DME?

If you can, locate a dme cheap and rule it out. no codes?

I'm trying, trying to find a non-vanos ecu is not too easy haha.
I don't have my check engine wired in I believe, however the only thing I can conclude is this:
I don't have my o2 sensor wired up (the connector fell off the ziptie and my car crushed the cable so i gotta rewire it..no biggie), 2 of my coil packs are arching a bit because of moisture inside the spark plug hole, and I have massive vacuum leaks. Basically my car idles like complete shit and plenty of times stalls because of this, but I can start it back up, but then sometimes it'll stall permanently until i unplug and replug the ECU.

Basically, I'm wondering if my ECU is going too many damn calculations to keep my car going that it's basically committing suicide?
I have NO problem on the highway with this because my car is running on all 6 cylinders without any missfires or backfires, but when it's idling thats when the ECU situation kicks in.

I have 2 NV DME's, one 402 and one 405. $45 shipped for either one to rule out the DME issue (no returns if that turns out not to be your problem). PM me if you're interested.

have you tried insulating the suspect wires. Might be just falling back into place and causing issues. You unplug it and they move around just enough, MAYBE. meh just thowing darts for you man.

Thats what I was thinking but although the plastic is partially melted off of some of them, they're all doing their job without touching each other :(

meh I would still wrap them in electrical tape.

Definetly wrap the wires in tape, you could get arcing and/or inductance which may cause dme to go haywire. I would be double checking all your grounds too.

                              Jesus....

I need to look at that with diagrams in hand next time. Ill fix your DME with the pipe wrench and hitch if necessary!
