    M50 into early E30

The engine on our 9/86 325e LeMons car finally gave out after 5 races, and rather than rebuilding it, I got a smoking deal on another former LeMons E30 with an M50 already swapped in (the car had rolled but it still runs/drives fine). The donor car was built in 4/85 and the M50 is from a '92 325i.

I was hoping to just transfer all of the wiring from the donor car into our car, but I just discovered the donor uses the older style square C101 connector, whereas ours is round. The previous owner of the donor did the wiring in a very "LeMons" manner (i.e. done just well enough that the car runs, but by no means neatly) and if I have to re-do the harness, I'd like to do it properly.

They cut off the original round M50 C101 connector and spliced the wires directly to the engine side of the square '85 C101. There are a bunch of unconnected wires hanging out of the M50 harness - I assume any wires not attached to the square C101 must not be needed for the car to run (it's a stripped out race car).

I'm thinking the easiest thing to do would be to cut off the engine side square '85 C101 and replace it with the round '87 M20 C101 connector from our car, so I can connect it to the fuse box side '87 C101 harness. Unfortunately, since the M50 C101 is gone, I can't just rely on pin-out charts, so I'd have to see what M50 wires are connected to the square '85 C101, and then connect them to the corresponding positions on the '87 M20 connector. Is there any easier way to deal with this given what I have?

Man, I realize that this is hard to explain in words, ha.

My other question is regarding the flywheel/clutch/starter. The donor car has a G250 trans which I don't want to use, so I'm planning to use our existing G260. I've read that this means I'll need to use the same flywheel/clutch/starter that was used with the G260. In our case, I had previously converted the original dual mass flywheel to a single mass (and sprung hub clutch disc) from an early '86 325e - I had to use the eta specific flywheel because it has the crank position sensor tab attached. Will I be able to transfer this flywheel/clutch/starter combo onto the M50 without any issues? I know I need to change the pilot bearing to match the G260 and either grind down the oil pan or back side of the flywheel as well.

    Thanks in advance.
