    M50 Starter Removal

A friend of mine asked if I could change out the starter on his dad's e36 325i. Ive taken m20 and m30 starters out while in the car and how does it compare difficulty wise. Is it two 17mm bolts holding it to the block?

They're external torx bolts, I think E14, with a nut on the engine side. You "should" be able to do it on the ground, just take the intake manifold off. Might be easier to do it from the bottom if you can.

much easier to just take the intake manifold off, it's in plain view once you remove the intake manifold. No lifting of the car needed.
