HELP! m50tu swap in an e30 gone wrong

NEED HELP!Bought an e30 with an m50tu swap single vanos. The car wasnt running because it had no harness so I went ahead and bought an e36 harness because I heard it was the better choice for the lenth issue. I hooked everything up to the sensors correctly(used a wiring diagram from bmw) however I am now cranking the vehicle over but it won't start=/ I didnt have fuel pump engagement, fuel injector pulse, or spark but after finding the ckps to be bad I now have spark and I know the engine runs because i manually grounded the injectors and gave power to the fuel pump relay and it started=0 I'm not sure at this point if the e36 harness is whats going on because I have heard it works but I have two black wires coming out by the 20 connector on the passenger side by the firewall and I'm not really sure if they should be power or ground or both? has this happened to anyone....the dme is a red label e34 dme

post some pics of the two wires. maybe we can help identify them (pull back the sleeves and tell us wire color as well). also check the relays are good for the fuel pump. try swapping them with the ones from your old harness if known working.

The wires on the passenger side near the fire wall can be rather confusing as they are all shrink wrapped black. Do like scottinAZ said and unwrap them a bit to find out what is what. Brown is ground, red is positive. You could also use a continuity probe if you don't want to unwrap anything.

If your getting spark but no fuel, you might have your fuel pump lines on backwords. Feed line goes to the front of the injector rail.

lol thanks but thats not it i get fuel pressure when i jump the relayand the lines are on crrectly and if that were the problem that would explain no injector pulse it has to be an issue with a ground loaction, harness, or DME problem because I had the engine running when I manually gave the injectors a ground and jumped the fuel pump relay

brown is ground, whether it has an orange stripe or not. those go to the shock tower ground point

Any brown wire is ground, regardless of if it has a stripe or not. So yes, they should be grounded.
