I appreciate it. There was a time when I knew nothing about this car and I downloaded the etk and it
Looked like an alien language. I stuck with it, made some mistakes, learned from them and now have a running swap.

There have been countless times where a random picture helped me solve a problem. So thanks for taking the time. It's bound to help someone sometime.

If u need and help, Shoot me a pm, I only have like 50 posts under my belt but im happy to help when I can.

YO M3.....Keep at it! I couldn't do a brake job on my car 6 months ago and have successfully completed a s52, OBD1 swap on my 91 318is. Passed emissions today with no further $ spent!

Hey guys, thanks for all the support, I have been pre occupied with some other important matters, but I plan on picking up the project this weekend.

My next step is to map out out pin to function.

            Cheers and be safe.

              My thought on the connector

Taking the body plug of the e36, remove pins. Also removing pins from e30 body plug, repinning pins into new e36 body plug...does this sound right, clean fit I'm sure but will the pins be a straight fit?

I will use the self made tool quoted in another post.

a lot of people like to just wire in an x20 to c101 adapter or hardwire a c101 to the wiring harness. i found this to be very beneficial because If i made a mistake in wiring i could just go back and redo the connection. But then again if youre really confident in your wiring repinning would be awesome. once i got everything figured out i went back and soldered the wires together. doesnt look to cluttered.

Look closely and youll notice why that wont work.

Yep, you can either get brand new pins from BMW and recrimp each pin, or you can just rip the harness open and splice thee e30 plug onto the e36 harness. I did the second option. I knew i was going to get the e30 m3 harness cover so i just did away with the old plastic box cover, removed all of the sheathing and stuffed it all under the cover. I managed to fit everything under the cover so i cut off the loop that originally holds the c101 connector also.
