    m50b25 with G260

    Hello guys

i am swapping from m50b20 vanos to m50b25 vanos in my e30.. now i want to ask i have G 260 installed with the m50b20 and it is working very good with a differential 3.64..

    now the questions is :

    - will the b25 work good with the G 260 and the 3.64 differential incase of drifting ? ? and high speed... or should i change the differential ... i am not thinkin about changing the G 260

    - the other question ((It might sound stupid i know :D )) can i add the m50b20 head to the m50b25 block ? ? to increase the hp ? i know this question might be wrong or stupid but i need feed back :).

    Thnx guys

should work fine, only difference is the amount of power you're going to have ;)

Your G260 is best. The only trans that would be better is the ZF, but it costs more and is more work.

I have never heard of the b20 head or valvetrain being any different than the b25 or other head.

As far as I know, yes they are the same.

GWIW, I just checked on realoem and the part numbers for the cylinder heads and camshafts are different, take that for what you will.

b20 head is not as good as b25, different shaped intake ports from what i saw of the 2 my mate had apart. I know that non vanos b20 cams are a direct upgrade for b25 nv but unsure in the vanos motors.

i will tell you something :

my car is 318i , in my region you cant increase the displacement over 30% of the engine.

i swapped it to m50b20 on the first, then i bored the b20 cylinder sleeve to 84mm and using b25 assembly with b20 head, the compression will increase but the air flow will decrease and the valve is smaller than b25 one, when i changed the head to b25 one the car doing better, my motor now b20 cylinder with b25 head , m52b28 crank , 135mm rod, m50b25 vanos piston and doing very good.

my gearbox 260 Euro "Removed from E34 1991"M50" " with 3.64 diff its good but if you want more spin from tire to drift i think 3.91 diff will do better
