    S50 swap checklist?

I'm new to the E30 world...and I'm still torn between just throwing in a built m20b25 in the E30 shell i bought yesterday...or going all the way and throwing an S50 in it. Anyone that has done this swap that can lend a bit of guidance to what needs to be sourced to make life a bit easier?

There are three threads above this one I would highly recommend reading.

Alright thanks just read through them. Now to decide if I want to do the M50 or S50. The swap looks extremely easy. Theres actually a 1991 525I sitting at the pick n pull here....gonna call in the morning to see how much it will cost me for the engine, harness and dme.

I would go with whichever 24v fits your budget and is in the best condition. Remember that the S motors are performance oriented and have likely been driven to exploit that, and typically have had a harder life than a lowly M50 that spent its life in a sedate automatic 5 series. Engines regardless of pedigree are expensive to refresh, but cheap to outright replace.

either way I'll be refreshing which ever engine i go with. If it's already out might as well address everything I can.

Yeah I've found quite a few writeups and parts lists since I posted this thread...but what is your reasoning behind putting the M20 back in my car instead of m50 or s50?

I wish someone would just roll my E46 M3...lol. this way i could justify pulling the S54 out of it and putting it in a car that would suit it better
