Most the information you find on the m50 swap is conflicting. One in particular is if you have to use the 525i oil pump. I know the e36 pump sucks, and I know you have to swap the oil pan, but do you have to change the pump?

I don't understand your question. You have an M50 but you need a E34 pick (same thing) up.....you already have one on the motor?? M50, m50 pan, M50 oil pump and pick up??? I'm lost as to why you asked I guess.
I thought the M50 oil pan worked for the swap? I also got the impression the oil pan only had to be an M50 if the motor was an S50?Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

In order to fit in the e30, you must use the e34 oilpan, pickup and dipstick tube along with some other parts. This is why it is a little bit easier to get an m50 from an e34

Now I know where I was confused. I had no idea the M50 was also in the E36. Thanks for clearing that up!
Now that I think about it, I totally forgot the M50 was also in the E36. Whatever, thanks.Last edited by joshh; 10-10-2005, 11:23 AM.Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.
