    ECU for an s50 swap

So, can somone please tell me which ECUs can be used when swapping in an s50 motor?

and before i get yelled at, I did rear the 40 billion page thread at the top of the page. The thread is so long that it is hard to find all of the valuable info in there. So, if you happen to know the info off the top of your head, please let me know. Thanks

Some red labels have EWS as well (like mine).

What chip do you have to get to disable the ews? About how much will this cost?

Also, how much do ECUs usually sell for. I can get a 413 silver label for $5 plus shipping. I'm guessing this is a good price? or should I try to find a red label ecu?

Does it make a difference if you are using an m50 or s50? or do they use the same ECU?

They can use the same ones. the red label 413 is the regular ole M50 DME. 506 is the official S50 pre EWS one and the silver 413 applies to all the post EWS OBD1 motors.

Any difference in post EWS vs pre as far as ECU and engine running capabilities. I hear the non vanos ECU's are shit. Anything better or worse about the EWS versions vs not?

I dont think the non-vanos DMEs are shit but they arent that usefull for engines with VANOS.

I dont know of any difference between the OBD1 cars as far as EWS goes other than some have it and some dont.

The non-vanos m50 uses a different version of motronic, not compatible at all with the vanos motors.
