I am rebuilding my euro S50 and one of the functional requirements is a strong oiling system. To meet this I will be dry sumping.
There are not a lot of options out there but I see 4(well 3.5) main options
a) VAC motorsports kit 1. Based upon a 4 stage Peterson pump with a Moroso pan.
b) VAC motorsports kit 2. Based upon a 4 stage Auto Verdi pump with a billet pan by VAC. This option is out because its ludicrously expensive. $7k for pump and pan alone
c) Dailey engineering make a pump and billet pan for M/S50 motors supposedly though I have not seen much evidence of it. I have emailed them for further detail
d) Use an ARE pan and make up your own system with whatever you wish.
I am leaning towards a) and c).
The VAC kit is nice because they have done the work to figure drive ratios and have made up a mount for the pump etc and it all look pretty good. Even includes a Gilmer drive.
The Dailey pump / pan are nice because they mount directly to each other so no need to have stuff hanging off the block and better no need to have a whole bunch of fittings and filters connect the pan to the sump, it all happens internally.
From what I can dig up theres not a lot of dry-sumped E30's getting around. Turner say they havent done one. VAC have done a couple so thats why they're in front. The Dailey setup looks real nice but Dailey himself is proving hard to get a hold of.
By chance has anyone actually used either the VAC or Dailey setup? Long shot I know.
