    I have a question with my swap rebuild project and need help

    soooo i was just wondering if anyone knows what lifter goes into what slot on the camshaft bracket barrier thing i bought the motor with the lifters out but i know that there is a slight difference in each one and they need to go back into the original slot so pleasseeeee help haha i am trying to get this done before M Fest:-D.

    lifters are all the same, it is not critical as to what hole they go to.

      WRONG!, it is critical as they bore into each bore and changing them out will surely cause them to tick, should have numbered them before.

        I wish I had remembered to number mine, but I did not. I've read that provided they slide freely, and relatively the same down the line it should be fine. You can after all buy new ones which would be fitted in to old bores.

          i was thinking about just getting new ones couse who knows how long they have been sitting out of there home for and not soaking in oil, but thanks for the help.

            Might as well replace them. For what it's worth, in spite of the fact that ideally you don't want to mix them up I've seen several of sets mixed into heads without any noise/problem. Also, at BMW they replace lifters all day long and with new lifters into old bores and there is no wear-in period or anything like that.

              You can fit new ones no problem, it's reusing the old ones that is a problem in the wrong bores that is a problem.
