    So CV axles are all interchangeable?

      Should be, i have 92 325i vert axles on my 92 318 vert. That and i used the cv boot kit i bought for the 318i axles on the 325i axles. The axles are the same. I think the terminology is throwing you off. The flange diameters are the same it's just that the small case needs flanges that stick out more to take up the difference between the size of the cases. I was under the impression i was going to have to swap my crossmember to swap in the diff but if not that is great.

        the cross members are basically the same for all e30s. ix's and m3s have a different part number but the ix uses different subframe bushings and the m3's sub has a different exhaust mount.
