    Where does this go

this thing is just hanging and the guy i got the motor from said he just had it hanging. its the aux thermostat appearently for the intake. but i got the 3.5 maf and bimmerworld boot with this and it has 2 vacuum ports on the bottom for 2 hoses already. do i just take it off and put a shorter recirc hose on it?

    Throttle body heater hose

Looks to me like it is a valve for the throttle body heater ports. Im sure it lets coolant circulate to the TBH once the correct temp hits.

I didnt use this on my swap. I used the port off the head for a temp sensor so that i didnt have to drill and tap another hole. I then blocked the spider hose off with a nut and band clamp.

You can delete the whole TB heater hose thing. Plug the outlet on the head and plug the thin branch from the spider hose. Also plug TB bottom inlets just so crap doesn't get in.

It is meant to plug into the stock airbox in an e36. You will not have that, so there is no need for it. You can either delete the throttle body heating hoses (plug the spider and change the outlet on the motor), or just re-route the hoses.

How much will blocking it affect the car? I'm in the same boat once I return to my swap, my car will be a DD.

it shouldnt effect it. the car now has a 3.5 maf and intake boot and the chip with it to match. (also has schricks and 24lb inj. hehe) but im sure that little bit of heat lost wont hurt it

what is the best means to plug the port on the head for whole TB heater assy?
How about plugging the hose on the spider assy? a bolt stuck in and tightened w/ a hose clamp?

I used a little fitting meant specially to plug the coolant line, and then a hose clamp as well. Should be able to get them at your auto store.
