    M5x Refresh checklist.

Rebuilding my M50B25tu and i figure other people could benefit from the checklist I put together.

If you want to go all out, you should include rods, pistons, piston rings, and bearings in this. Personally i'm only getting a slight bore and oversized pistons.

Let me know how much i missed. Couldn't find all the o rings and other stuff.

Just buy the master gasket set - elring. It should have all the gaskets.

So you are going up .025? You could just find your self some 2.8 pistons and or crank. I have a 2.8 block with 90k miles that might be a good starting place for you.

Then you can keep your 84 bore but have a 2.8 Displacement.

How are your cylinder walls? Have you used a bore indicator yet?
    Past Car : E30 S50 6 Speed 5 Lug 3.73
Current : Z3 S50 OBD2 (Smog Legal) 6 Speed BBS RN Dual Ear Diff

Mostly just refreshing the engine. Slightly oversized set of maxsil pistons so i can bore the cylendar wall. Its an old engine, but im not really looking to boost or stroke. Just looking to get a FRESH M50.

Depending on your wall spec you should be able to ball hone and not size up. FFT.

If you wanted to start with a 2.8 let me know, especially if you have it all knocked apart. (it uses the same bore 84mm)

Well you don't need the block...

Just rods, pistons, crank. That would not be that bad to ship.

Front pulleys should be done whilst the engine is out with new belts too, new water pump with metal impellar as well and aluminium thermostat housing.

One other thing you might as well do with the engine out, the oil filter housing gasket which is $3.50 off pelican parts - part number 11 42 1 719 855.

They do eventually leak and its easy to just take it off with the engine out of the car to replace it.
