Dynoed and wondering what a Cat would do

Hey guys dynoed the car a while back.

    Performance Specs:
    Full OEM rebuilt M50tu
    TRM Custom Tune Chip
    S50 Cams
    24# Bosch Injectors
    3.5" Euro HFM
    Amsoil Intake
    Super Sprint replica headers
Custom 3" exhaust, no Cat, Vibrant 3" Muffler
    ZF Transmission
    3.25 LSD

Made 200whp and 171 ftlbs of torque.

If I were to add a high performance cat would that change anything? Increase numbers slightly or do nothing at all.

Is it true more back pressure from the cat could increase torque but reduce hp?

    Myth?

    Thanks!

Nando will be here in no time. (hopefully!)

        He knows his exhausts.

Can I get a sound clip of your exhaust?

I'm planning on doing the same setup.

I will try tomorrow, oh man even right now with not cat it's not raspy. It's deep and screams when I hit the throttle. Amazing sound to be honest.

Can you show me the link to the muffler you have?

I cant seem to find a nice single inlet , dual out muffler. All i find is single in single out

This is the one I got 3 years ago I'm pretty sure. Just got the 3-inch piping and made the whole system myself.

I guess you don't like compliments? lol Backpressure does not increase torque.

very true, Resonance of exhaust gasses is what creates torque gains, besides any alteration after a Y pipe or an X pipe does not aid in torque production.

I'm sorry dude, I thought your depression was causing you to look for attention.

                          But anyways, thanks dude.

                          Cheers!

So what you're saying is, whether I have a straight 3 inch pipe or a catalytic converter in place, the end result is the same?

This was all for curiosity's sake, very interesting.

i read it somewhere that a ricer (don't me) was tested if it had any power gain after playing with the cat. it was dyno'd with stock cat, hiflow cat and catless. using hiflow cat gave it an extra 4-5 HP and same amount of torque gain. going catless had no gain or 1 HP i can't remember.
i know it's a 4 banger but i would expect similar result with an M50. hope this helps...
