Paid $400 for a 92 525i. Pulled the motor and harness for myself and a bunch of other parts to sell. Sold what was left to the junk yard for $300 and some the parts I had pulled for another $300. So I guess that means I got the M50 for free, minus the time I spent pulling everything!

Just last week I got a running m50b25tu with harness and DME for free. But the valve stem seals are leaking, so it looks like I'll need to do a valve job :( . But I'm selling one of my m20's so I can have the head machined and whatnot.

I paid around $900 on eBay, but I know I over-spent. Engine has 120k on it, came with e36 arms, e36 harness, ps pump. The price included shipping the motor to my house in an 18 wheeler. Another large sum of money will be going into the drivetrain before it will run, then I will be pulling it all again to rebuild the m50 and g260.

yeah. complete swap out of a wrecked e30. 150K, rebuilt vanos. Lightened m20 flywheel/new clutch, tanny, drive shaft, full exhaust ,e21 booster, radiator + fitted hoses, motor mounts.... Everything.

I probably could have done it for less but having all the parts together from a running swapped car made it very easy. I did the complete swap by myself in two days.

got a 95 m50 with 105k miles on it,all accessories except transmission for $420. Got my e34 oil pan pickup and dip stick for $20 at pic and pull. Spent $250 on motor mounts, pilot bearing, clutch parts rear main seal, etc

so I have 850 dollars into a low mile engine with most new wear parts particularly the ones hard to access once the tranny and motor are put together.

Hey, time is money. That's a pretty good deal in my book.

I picked up a partially stripped '92 e36 that had everything I needed under the hood for $500. After parting it's down to free. $155 for oil pan. Another $500 or so for clutch and maintenance bits.

Got mine complete without tranny for 150. And he dropped it off. That was 3 years ago. Rings are going bad but its well over 200k now. Craigslist!

                              I wanna do an m/s50 swap :(
This thread's actually pretty encouraging...looks like an m50 can be done for well under 1k if you shop around.
The first car I ever rode in was an e30
