    M50 E30 Spongey Brakes

    Hey guys;

    I have just put my E30 back on the road, now with an M50!

    However, my brakes don't feel strong at all.

    I can pump them at a stand-still and they are very firm, I can't get the pedal to the floor at all.

    However, as soon as I am moving, I can push the pedal to the floor. This slows the car down, but I doubt I could lock up the wheels.

    I know there is a vacuum leak somewhere in the engine, because it takes a second to return to idle from throttle. Could this be affecting my brakes, through the booster?

      The 325i booster that I moved over slightly to fit.

      I spoke to some friends today and they seemed to think the master cylinder was shot.

        Iirc most people who ran the booster moved over have some sort of issue like that.

          Check your fluid level.

          Maybe you have air bubbles in the brake fluid?

          Could be a weak spring in your master cylinder.
