Euro S50B30 bent valves, what to do??

So, I know what the proper way is and what we would do at dealership. My question is, do you think with this damage, it will be possible to just throw in 12 new exhaust valves, a cam tray, clean up the piston top a bit and roll? The valves did make contact, but really not so bad that the head has taken any real damage- I am just a bit worried that if I try this, did the crank and/or rod bearings take a hit.

So for the motor guys out there that have cut corners, you think this will work? It's not my motor, but I am helping out a friend and I think it has a 90% chance of working, just wanna hear some other thoughts on it.
so on to the pics of the carnage. The motor was bought from the U.K.- some numbnut put the vanos on with bathtub clear calk and either overtightend 50% of the bolts to where I snapped off a few, or left the others so loose that the timing chain swallowed a cam retainer nut, skipped a few teeth on the exhaust cam and bent all 12 exhaust valves- all at about 130mph.

exhaust cut out, all of the pistons look just like this.

My race car's motor saw around 10,000 RPMs due to a mis-shift (the broken engine mount probably didn't help). So far, it's been fine with just a new head. (Since decent M54 heads are cheaper than replacing valves.

that's what I was hoping to hear. Did an M20 many years ago with a quick new head, but the car was sold shortly after, so no idea what happened months down the road. did the piston crown look anything like these?

The bottom end should be fine-- I've never had a problem with head/valve replacements in this situation. Seems like valves are pretty soft when the piston is moving that fast.. Like you know, just clean up the exhaust valve reliefs as those sharp areas would be nasty hot spots when driving.

I wish you were Stateside, I've got a nice cam tray and I maybe a set of exhaust valves that would be nice to get rid of.

what do the cyl bores look like. When i tapped (and broke) a few valves the damaged piston reliefs scored my walls to the point of no return.

you need a new head from the damage, but why cam trays?

also, last time i skipped teeth on the exhaust cam it was because my oil pump nut fell off and i seized the exhaust camshaft from all the heat.. That was at about 110mph turn 10 at PBIR when i had no oil light or oil pressure gauge. I basically ran a lap or two without oil. That resulted in the exhaust camshaft also totally breaking in 3 places and 3 cam tray caps broken. Also a valve embedded (more like explosion welded) itself upside down ontop of a piston. It was all so....beautiful.

i can see that needing new cam trays. i think you need a bunch of valves and a new head. look at your bores then decide if you wanna use the current pistons.

nop, missed it : p. you do need a cam tray hehe

hard to believe vanos bolts just came undone. i would really be careful investigating why that happened and make sure that was the root cause of the failure. Chances are if it wasn't the problem will go away because everything came apart is being put together (hopefully) the right way.. but if the problem was elsewhere i would hate for your friend to need another motor again soon. best of lucks m8

well, bought a used cracked head for 250 euros- gonna use the valves from it. The cause of the problem was a cam retainer nut came loose- half of the bolts were either too loose or too tight, and got sucked into the chain somehow.

See how this goes down in the next 2 weeks.

177 dollars per exhaust valve X12?????!!!!WTF

its about US$15-17each per OE valve here (for us motors). once you get into oversize then yes, its ridiculous. $140sh per.
