what's a good differential

my manual cabrio came with a factory 3.73 LSD.

I have a 3.46 LSD behind my S50 and zf transmission. Quick off the line but a bit too many highway RPM's for me. I'm building a 3.15 diff now.

you lucky bast*rd. My vert came with a 4.10 open diff for some reason. Sucks with the s52/zf combo. Cant wait to get a 2.93LSD!

i have a s50 with a stock diff its so slow off the line i have a 1986 325e diff what is a good diff to swap in

i would go with the 3.25LSD. I've only heard good things about it. Its on average a nice gearing for off the line and somewhat managable for highway driving.

2.93 LSD here... This sucker is taller than hell. 65mph in second gear (Getrag 260).

If you do a ton of highway commuting it would be sweet, gets about 30mpg on the freeway.

3.46 plus 6spd is really the only way to be happy. Should have done that from the beginning, instead of doing the ZF, the G260, and then the 6spd finally.
