    Troubleshooting M50NV swap no-start

Quick question - will the car start if the MAF isn't hooked up (waiting on a new sensor)?
    thanks,

As a follow-up question, my previous M50 vanos harness was not utilizing the purple/green wire to the FP relay, but previous owner had instead run a wire directly from the FP into the FP relay (same terminal where the purple/green wire would land). That ran fine.
But now my NV harness/402 doesn't seem to want to give any power to the fuel pump. The FP runs with the relay jumper method.
I've put the purple/green wire back into use from the C101 to the FP relay, and no start.

On another note, i pulled two coil/spark plugs out, cranked, but am not seeing any spark on the plug. Switched cam and crank sensors as well.

Ready to get it going - any ideas?....thanks

        So NV stuff:

If you pull back the boots on the cam and crank plugs on the HARNESS side you will find the cam had a red piece there and crank has a green. Its like a piece of heat shrink. Only way to be sure.

Next the fuel relay should not have been touched in any way. You hook Pin 13 on C101 to pin 13 on the m50 to make sure the fuel pump gets electricity.

Make sure the relays are grounded. There is a block of 3 relays, there is a wire with a ring terminal on the end. It is covered with black weather sheilding, it needs to be grounded. It would cause a crank but no start.

aah - so if they are hanging free, they won't work correctly?

Got 'er started! I'm still working on FP issue, as i had to jumper it, then crank it.
Also, I got alot of white smoke - I"m hoping it is because I am still waiting on the correct NV MAF.

Weird that it wouldn't start w/ the O2 sensor connected to the harness. Does the NV have a diff O2 sensor? Or maybe i just wired my old vanos O2 wrong...?
