    S50, e34 oil pan question

    Hi all,

I went to work removing the bracket that holds the s50 oil pickup by removing the plate that covers the section closer to the transmission. Upon putting the plate back and looking over my e34 pan, I noticed that the e34 pan has the plate built into it.

That said, its fine to remove the plate already there bolted to the bottom end assuming the one attached to the e34 oil pan is taking its place, correct?

Sorry I don't know the technical name for this plate, pics below to show what I am talking about. Thanks all.

Yes that's fine I took the catch pan out of the s50 and kept the oil pan one. If you have any fit ent issues sometimes the outer edges of the baffle need to be sanded down to prevent rubbing of the block ( or at least that's what happened to me)

I cut the baffle out of the oil pan, and left the baffle that attaches to the block in place. M52 btw.

          Windage Tray is the term.
          fixed that for you

either way works. When you remove the tray there will be a bracket that will need to be dealt with. For some reason its is not showing up in the pics from above. Did you remove it and the put the windage tray back?
