Ive done plenty of searching about this and everything seems to be for later cars. i have an 86 eta and the old motor that came out had this coming off of the head. so from what i can gather i would want to do the same thing with the s50 going in. heres what i have after tonight. is this right? does this thing even stay? the hoses seem to fit pretty nice. the plastic barb is going to connect to the spider hose? it has a t with a small hose going back to the valve.

well kind of a bump but i have been doing non stop research and found that bmw used this as a secondary thermostat to keep antifreeze out of the heater core during cold starts. http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/64118391926/ES177574/ do you guys think i should just delete it. i was thinking at first that this was the valve inside the car everyone weas talking about but mine happened to be external. i guess not. im gonna go look at the car in a little bit to see if my valve inside the car is on the top or bottom heater core line. everyone seems to go so back and forth on which way the lines go. back of the head goes to the valve. is that the consensus?

awesome... minus the part where i spent a bunch of time last night trimming hoses and manipulating it to fit nicely haha but if i dont need it then f it. im about to go work on the car. im gonna check out this heater valve back of head to top or bottom issue i have been reading up on all morning and get back to everyone to make sure i got it right.

so one more thing. all the people on here have me going back and forth about the back of the head and the spider hose that go to the heater core. when i looked inside my car the heater valve is on the top line, so from what i can gather then i need to run my lines like most everyone else on here and do head bottom and spider top...correct?
