    Contemplating m50 swap (Need Opinions)

Since my m20 motor blew a head gasket, I am looking at getting an m50 w/ vanos. I read that it was around $500 to get the swap. Anyways... do you guys have any recommendations on how to go about the swap / build and what I should check upon receiving the motor? I am on a college budget and I want to get my car up and running before Bimmerfest (May 19th) since I am leading the Caravan from SD.

    Thanks in advance!

head gasket cost like 30bux... maybe a total of 100bux in parts if that to get your car back in running order. A 24v swap will add up much faster than you think.

Well here's the thing. I'll have to get the head machined by a shop which will cost more. My friend has an m20 that I could probably use in the meantime while I save up for the swap.

just stick with the m20. No possible way to get an entire swap done by the 19th if youre just starting now. and search is your friend. waayy too many threads on here that detail the entire swap process.

If you do buy an m50, try and find a complete one with all the accessories and wiring harness. That way you wont have to piece it together as you go.
