    22mm crankshaft/harmonic ballancer bolt

So I've been working for the better half of the last hour trying to get the bolt that holds the vibration dampener hub off.

Anybody have any tips as to what to do to get it off?

The m50 is almost completely disassembled I want to get this thing off so I can take my block and head to the shop to be cleaned.

    Thanks
    -Addis

That can be a tricky one, especially if you have everything else dismantled.
I frequently open those with help of long lever. Of course crank is the still bolted to block and somehow blocked from turnong too.

This is what I had to do. That thing is on there so freaking good it's not funny. It's threaded normally just for the record.
I took the AC pulley ( I'm not using AC) and drilled a hole in the side of it so I could fit the bent end of a pry bar in there. This prevents the the crank from turning. Then we used a long piece of black pipe over the the pry bar. This end was pointed parallel to the ground so it was pushing on the ground only (good resistance).
We used an extention for the bolt with a piece of black pipe on that as well. I brought the block to a mechanic for help and he had to put all his weight on the extention and hopped up and down on it till it very slowly broke loose.

It was suggested to me by a local machine shop to take the oil pan off, wedge a 2x4 between a counter weight of the crank and the ground, then get a very powerful impact gun and zip it off.

          Good luck.

alright- i've got about 8' of prybar, 5' for my friend to hold onto to keep the crankshaft still, and 3' in addition to my 2' wrench... this fucker better come off.

I wish he'd hurry up and get out of class...
