    all done, but high idle

finally got my coolant bled and everything is done except taking it to the exhaust shop and having the exhaust finished and a bung put in the y pipe for the o2. the car is idling at about 1100 rpm. ive let it warm up enough to check the fan and its gets hot. idle never drops. do you guys think it could be because it has no o2 signal. i wanna check for vacuum leaks but it has all new intake gaskets and all new vacuum lines. tested e21 booster. check valve is good. s50 with schricks, 24lb's and 3.5 maf. trm tune. ill check for cels tomorrow

    ICV plugged in?

If your idle control valve is unplugged, you'll idle high just as you describe.

If this is the case, dont't freak out when you plug in back in and the idle surges for a few seconds. Just wait it out and it will settle in.

so i cleansed out the icv today and no change. i also noticed that if i pull the dipstick or oil cap, the idle doesnt change...shouldnt it?
same if i unplug the breather at the valve cover. if i unplug the tps the idle will drop to maybe 900 rpms. could i just be over reacting and the idle is wack because its open headers and no o2 hooked up.
the one thing i did notice is the icv was not shut all the way when i cleaned it. it was about 1/4 of the way open and seemed to spring back and forth when i shook it. is that normal operation. or should i look for one. ive had the intake off 2 times and the idle is the same. brand new vacuum lines and intake gaskets

so i talked to the guy i bought the motor from tonight and he said when he got the trm tune that it always idled at 1000 rpm. the motor has schricks, 24lb'ers and a 3.5 maf with the trm tune to match. would that be suitable. stock flywheel though

I wouldn't care if it idle'd at 1k. Maybe TRM sets it that way for cams. Any codes or vac leaks? you could try emailing TRM. They were pretty responsive when I sent them an email (like an hour).

That's what I'm gonna do. I wonder if they keep their tunes on file for customers

TRM does a 1k idle for a lightweight flywheel to stop the motor from stalling out at idle. Sounds like your p.o. got the tune with that option.

yea maybe. but the car had the trans connected with the flywheel and i reused both of them. is it a big deal?
