How are you on shifting and launch? Those are key. I bet you get those down and practice you can knock off a good 1/4 second to 1/2 off your time.

post your slip than we can help more. 60', 1/8, 1/4, and trap speed. That should tell us more about whats going on.

I ran a 14.8 my first time with the same set up. Haven't tried again, but it's driver error, tires, suspension helps-stiffer rear springs, etc. Post up your slip

y in the world run these cars in a 1/4 mile?...I just don't get it.

            I track my e30..road courses.....and I love drag racing.....

but to run an e30 down the strip??????....maybe its me.

Id rather go buy an older 'stang.....drop in a crate engine and have at it....and see some 11's!

go take that s50 to a road course....now thats fun.
I love sitting down and just driving!

That is a godawful 60' time, and a depressingly slow trap speed. Your launch is bad and your car is slow is what that says. Reaction time is actually pretty good.

The first and easy improvement is a shorter rear gear. Think 3.46. The S50 is dreadfully sluggish with anything taller.

The other question is what happened at the launch? Did you just dog the hell out of it, or did you have tons of wheel spin? The first thing to do is get a set of drag radials so you can really launch hard. Don't mess with the suspension if you are just looking for straight line performance. Well, aside from fixing crap bushings and the like. Stock suspension will give you the best dig off the line, short of having real real drag racing suspension setup made (which will make the car horrible to drive otherwise).

Finally, I would toss the car on a dyno and make sure that you're making reasonable power.

why the fuck not? just because it doesn't have a big potato motor and ford 9-inch doesn't mean you can't/shouldn't go to the drag strip.

                        Opinions are like assholes.

To the OP, your trap speed of 91mph means it's not entirely your fault. 91mph is only good for about a 15 second pass. You'll have to make some changes to go faster.

                          a s50 is about what... 250hp stock?

That is a bit more than your m20s 170 and with a lot more grunt due to the extra valves... but not a shitton better.

                          I think the 95 m3 did 14.5 or so in the 1/4 in a 3200lb chassis
so in a 88 325 you should be at 15.5 stock in a 2900lb chassis

so 300lbs less and 80 more hp....

If you are hitting 15s it seems like you could get it down to at least low 14s just by looking at the weights and specs... the 2.93 lsd seems a bit low for a engine that likes to rev.

I just googled some random figures so they may not be exact.

Also- toss some weight out of your car, run with a 1/4 tank of gas, move to a higher diff with meatier tires to improve your trap speeds, intake/headers/chip?

I have a 3.46 in mine and it runs like a bat out of hell. I need a wider rear rim/tire though due to wheel spin...

I think a 3.46 can be had in an e28. If I remember correctly it was in like a 533 body.
