When I start my car I idle at 2 grand and it rises till I shut the car off.(obviously) could it be cause I'm using the m42 throttle cable?

Assuming you are posting in the swap section because you have an m/s5x swap - the e30 M42 cable is fine.
However, if you think your cable is too short, causing the throttle to stick open a little, you can use the powerful advanced technique called "Looking at your throttle plate" to see if the thing actually closes against the stop. :)
I bet yours is sticking, or the cable is hung up or misrouted.Current:

Ok thanks I have an m50 cable may just be misrouted then. I just had to do a clutch line and had to move a ton of stuff
