    Intake manifold corner... melted?

Had to change my starter today (sucked, yep.) When I took off the intake manifold, I noticed a bunch of oil on the hose beneath it, which came from the right corner (to the right of throttle body.) Apparently that coolant hose has been heating up that corner of the intake manifold to the point where it's cracked open a bit (I'll take pics tomorrow).

So... should I just JBWeld that shit shut OR buy a new M50/S50 intake manifold and then use some sort of heat-wrap on the corner so the coolant hose can't melt through the plastic again?

Anyone dealt with this before? :D

I highly doubt that the coolant hose melted the plastic !

yeah if a coolant hose was getting hot enough to crack the intake im surprised your headgasket is not already blown. to be honest id probably just jb weld it after a coarse sanding and cleaning. maybe your car will run like a beast now after fixing this vacuum leak. its also not necessary to remove the manifold to change out the starter

I think I know what you're talking about and assume the intake manifold was notched a little on purpose to clear your brake booster.

It certainly didn't melt. I took a torch to mine and they don't melt... they're either on fire or solid, and it takes a lot of heat for them to ignite. Anyway, if you're NA JB weld will work fine.

Yep it was notched a bit. I'll take a pic today.

What is the alternative way? As far as I can tell, the only other way would be to make a train of extensions and run them from the bottom up to the bolts on the starter... thing was a bitch to get to even with the intake manifold off, I can't imagine trying to do it with the manifold on.

Ahhh, the manifold takes like 10 minutes to get off, and makes starter access sooooo much easier. As for melting a hole in it, good luck, dont believe its possible. that thing is some tough stuff....

A new manifold is like 60 bucks. Replace it. And post a picture your old one.
