    s52 Quiet Exhaust Recommendations

I'm looking for a DD quiet exhaust. I would use the stock muffler but the clearance issues are a problem. I'm TIG capable and will be doing my own system.

What setup in your opinion would be no louder than stock s52 exhaust?

What are you using for headers?

I have a single 2.5" going to a Borla ProXS in place of the cats, and then a single 2.5" back to a Vibrant Street Power.

Very quiet at idle, kinda loud under acceleration (but not obnoxious), sounds amazing under hard acceleration, though.

I have eBay headers to single 2.5" through 2x Vibrant Ultra Quiet Resonators and a Vibrant Street Power Muffler.. I'd equate it to a littler louder than an s52 exhaust but I think if you didn't go with the ebay headers you may be quieter..

Just got my exhaust welded up Saturday. Ebay headers to X-pipe ->Magnaflow cat-> Remus E36 M3 muffler.

Has a nice deep / low idle that's maybe 10% louder than stock and sounds very mean when you open it up without being obnoxious.

Hmmm. Two resonators you say? Yes stock manifolds. Anyone else?

I have the stock e36 m3 muffler on. Chris Castro did a very good job fabricating a custom setup for me using stock odb2 headers, aftermarket cats and the stock m3 muffler. it's not loud at all and still the lowest point of my car is actually the steering rack.

S52 - OBD2 manifolds- SS Splice- VSR Dual Cat mid section- dual pipes to Supersprint back box.
Slightly louder with deeper tone than Factory S52 M3 system at idle.
                No rasp.
Intake hiss is as loud as the exhaust under acceleration.
The VSR/Supersprint combo is E30 M3 S14 and I retained it intact to return to S14.

Coast fab custom muffler the entire length of the car on not having mufflers where there are turns.
                    Should be super DD quiet

Is there anyway someone can take a picture showing the baffling on the Vibrant Streetpower. My buddy gave me a free Stainless Steel exhaust and I wanna see how it compares to the Vibrant.

                      Update: I found a photo here: http://shopping.netsuite.com/core/me...c0480c8d8aa49f

I ordered a Magnaflow 11216 for the mid pipe, and I think the back section is actually a Silverline muffler, it has the same design as the Vibrant, hopefully this sounds good! :D I was going to get a Borla ProXS Muffler 40364 but they were back-ordered and way more money, I am betting the Magnaflow has exact same design with cheaper material, haha.

I have something odd to throw in.

I am thinking of modifying a whole Superspring E34 M5 system.
Basically keeping the mufflers and having tubing made to suit.

Either this or an E34 M5 Eisenmann sport rear section.

I bring these up because they are BIG mufflers and I reckon it will fit, assuming a full custom exhaust.

                        schmiedmann.com have them CHEAP

$985 for Supersprint rear & middle sections
$750 for Eisenmann sport rear section

So over loud, generic Magnaflow, Borla bla bla exhausts. :)

How did you mount E36 muffler on E30? I tried but it looks too big and angle of it is wrong, I just don't see how it will work

I used what I had around, but it's quiet and tight. My K&N cone filter is louder than my exhaust.

                            I have an M52 running:
eBay knock off SuperSprint long tube headers,
                            Flowmaster 2-to-1 (Y200250),
                            2.5" piping,
                            E36 Resonator,
                            2.5" piping,
                            2.5" Autozone Rolled Muffler.

This is obvious but pay attention to how low the exhaust is. The long tubes and the 2-to-1 hang 50mm from the ground on H&R Races. I've unsuccessfully tried bending the longtubes with an propane torch. I may try an acetylene torch soon.

Do you happen to have a soundclip?
