    A/C question

    can i use the stock M50 a/c compressor with my stock 1985 eta a/c stuff.


    i want to leave all my stock e30 a/c parts and just swap in the e36 compressor

    Yes on all.

    I did that on mine. I cut the E36 lines where they bolt to the compressor, bent them up a bit, then cut the E30 lines, they were all steel, then I welded them on the car, then pulled the ac lines, then welded them more, then pressure tested them, loaded the system with one and a half can of walmart 134a and AC blows cold here in 110f AZ

        Desert BMW is correct on this one.

        Only way to have AC on a swap is to custom fab the lines using the E36 compressor and the rest of the system from the E30. Cost me about 100 bucks to have my local napa redo the ends and replace the rubber hose on the lines I am using. One suggestion I have is to also change your condenser to a more modern design, the output temp is about 10 degrees lower than the old one. cheap(ish) to do when you already have the system drained (about 100 bucks or so)
        I saved 15% on my Bimmer parts by switching to ...
