pls advs..re HVAC fan/motor

not really swap related..but the smartest intellects hang here..

for a yr now my interior fan only worked on hi mode.

yesterday, while still tracking down coolant issues on the s50 I put fan on full hi....and after 3 min heard kinda a big bang/humm sound.

Turned car off....then figured it was the blower that blew..no pun intended.

I put blower back on hi and heard that same sound..kinda like a throbbing moan vibration in the dash. So its blower related...but wtf ?..I know nothing of the blower set ups..

B: You now need an entire blower motor as yours esploded and is rubbing on shit.

I just found a link for a DIY to replace the motor......

when it rains it pours.......fock.

dont know how bad access is for the motor when swapped, but they are dead easy to change with an M20. access is through the firewall panel. BMW actually made it NOT a huge pain in the ass to change the motor and resistor

ive never tried to gain access to the hatch with the motor installed but pulling the intake manifold will likely be necessary, and ought to make things quite easy I would guess.

If you continue to run the bad motor, it will set your fuse box on fire.
Replace ASAP.
