    A s50 running bad

My brothers s50 is running bad shortly after his swap. It ran for about a week then It started seeming like it was only firing on 5 cyl (my brothers prediction.) I know a rough running engine could be alout of things but what could he mess with first.

Bad cylinder would be bad compression, so do a compression check. Possibly bent valve, bad piston rings, spark plug, coil, injector, etc.

Maybe his wiring , for the harness, unless he got the adapter from tree house.
If not your usual stuff coil, plug, injector.

Those coils go bad alot. I see it very often at work.

That would be the first place I looked.

Also check the camshaft sensor, as those can make for some odd running conditions as well when they are on the way out.

Take out the spark plug, plug it back into the coil, turn the key, and feel the pain...hopefully. If not, then its electrical or the coil.

You can dissconnect the coils one at a time. Disconnect one and start the engine and see if you notice a difference.

                        Yup, do that.

I would bet that its a coil. Very, very common.

I think i found the bad coil and so i took it out. When i took it out there was oil around, above were the spark plugs are. It didnt seem right to me, is there supposed to be oil here? i wanted to try and tighten the plug or see if it needed to be but i could find anything to get far enough down to get to them. What are your thoughts on this?

You're getting an oil leak between the valve cover and the cylinder head. Get the gasket set, which should include two gaskets that go around the spark plug holes. I'd also check the valve cover with a straight edge when you have it off to make sure that its not warped.
