Then you need a couple (2) of master cylinder adapters, BMW part#: 32-31-1-121-911. You will also need some angular fittings (2), BMW part #: 34-32-1-102-282. And other than that, you should be golden. I'm sure you'll have figured out how to mount the fluid reservoir by this time. You're running a 325iX brake booster too, right? Even before my Brembo 330mm GT Big Brake kit conversion, this thing would out-brake near any modern BMW. Great pedal feel too.
Yeah, 325IX booster with an e34 m5 BRAKE master ;)

Do you know how much the res cost? realoem is showing like $109 which is outrageous. Also, how was the clutch line extended to get over to the new res location?

I am redoing my remote res because my setup is just retarded, horribly overengineered and is crappy as hell., time to add another $150 to the "money on crap that dosnt work or was used" bin

i've said it before, i'm saying it again:

e30 clutch master cylinder, e36 slave cylinder.

check www.bmaparts.com for both of those parts, probably $60-80 for the master, and about $30 for the slave.

when you talk about the ix booster and the e34 m5 brake master, are you saying you already have this setup, or this is what you'd like to do?

I'm 99% sure that setup doesn't work. The ix booster requires a master cylinder that fits deep inside the booster, I know people have put m5 master cylinders on their e21 brake boosters, but I haven't heard of it being done to ix boosters. Either way, its a pointless endeavor because the ix master cylinder is 25mm, just like the e34 m5. If you're going to go the ix route, stick to the stock ix master cylinder, and either go for the e34 remote res. setup, or make your own.

iirc, he has the ix but didnt fit right, had to relocate, and the way he has it really looked over-engineered. got to be some miss-information in here somewhere because obviously it didnt work.

he had to relocate the booster? I shaved the fins and about a mm of plastic off my intake manifold to make mine fit- i have about 3mm of clearance between my booster and manifold.

The m5 master looks almost the same as the stock IX master, and it WOULD NOT fit in my e21 booster

Yes, I know but no one is saying how the clutch feels, it may work, but does it feel like a normal clutch?

yes, it feels like a normal clutch, because that is the clutch slave that is made for that tranny, engine & clutch.

The e34 m5 master setup does work withan iX booster (Girling).
My freeish iX booster didn't come with a master cylinder so I picked up an e34 m5 one.

I didn't know the stock iX was 25mm; not even the e30 m3 was that high - 23mm.

The ix is a bit heavier than an m3 :)

there is a big 25 stamped on the bottom of my booster.

Are you sure there aren't two numbers on it? Even my stock e30 ATE had a 25 stamped at the top and a 21 stamped on the bottom. I'll post a pic tonight.

I know the e34 m5 one is 25mm, although its looks IDENTICAL to the 325IX one. I feel a bit cheated since I think I paied $300 new from the dealer for the MC, and I got the IX booster w/ MC for $35 shipped I think.

Oh well, new parts means less things to fail

This is the IX with the e34 m5 master

Here it is all hooked up and whatnot

Is the e34 m5 25mm MC a bolt on? No mods neccescary to the fittings or anything?
