Just to clarify cam swap...

I have came across an e36 1999 m3 s52 intake cam for sale. My car has an e34 1992 m50 Non Vanos motor in it. I have read just about every thread on R3V about the cams, but i am still not satsified with my results, and i find my self 2nd guessing which is no god.

My question is, will this intake cam work with my motor? seeing as i have the 1992 Non Vanos m50. Or is it just the s50 intake cam that will work?

No, you can't do that. Non-vanos and Vanos cams are not interchangeable AFAIK.

What seems to be popular with the Non-vanos engines is switching the stock intake cam to the exhaust side, and getting a new intake cam custom made to stock S50 intake specs.

I dont think so. Aparently, the way to get "M3 spec cams" would to put the stock intake cam in the exhaust side and get a custom made (i.e. Schrick) cam for the intake side.

ok ok. thank you, i knew i was correct in not bieng able to do so. But you know how it is when you think you know but your not sure of it.

My hunt will continue. If anyone knows of any retailers of schrick, that woudl be greatly apreciated.

that is where cheads got cams ground to m3 specs. I'm sure they'll still have the specs on file, so it souldn't be too expensive. Brew got his cam from Cheads, Cheads got his cam from delta cam.
