iX Booster installed with remote reservoir - barely any pedal pressure

So I'm in the process of finishing up a swap for a friend of mine and I need some direction.

We purchased an iX booster with the master cylinder + 2002 reservoir. *Check valve is NOT installed yet*

So I haven't bled the system yet but something is worrying me about this... when I push down on the brake pedal I see fluid moving through the line at the master up to the reservoir but pedal pressure does not build. The clutch however engages beautifully.

-Is it because there's a ton of air in the system?
-Do I need to bench bleed the master cylinder (have never done this before)?
-Do I need to cycle the ABS pump to force fluid through the system?
-How would I go about doing the above, give the pump power some place?

    Thanks dudes

bench bleed the master. You need to have a way to completely seal one of the master cylinder ports (bolt or welded up brake fitting or whatever). Then seal one output port, and push the master cylinder piston in with a screwdriver. Once that is depressed, plug the other hole with your finger and release the piston. This will make sure no air is sucked back into the master. Repeat this process until your get just brake fluid coming out of the port when you depress the piston, then swap your plugs and bleed the other line port the same way as the first.

Used a powerbleeder to get the system free of air. Took some time but I'm glad I didn't have to remove the master cylinder.
