aiming for 500/500. I'd be happy with a running car.

    Status: HG repair. 488wtq though!

LoL a running car is always better then nothing.. But 500/500 would be BallR!!

To be honest the engines and parts i have on the side i'm willing to sell to help with this build.. i really dont need them..

-Have a complete M54B30 head that is completely rebuilt fresh from the machine shop
-M50B25 Vanos Engine + harness + 413 Red label DME
        -I think 2 if not 1 M20 and when i swap my current M20
Idk if i'll get anything for but i guess it can be a donor for another car later on.

Well i guess i see why i was getting such low numbers on my compression test...

My guess on valves wasn't too far off..But i wasn't expecting this.. I was going to put new rings in nontheless so honing the block really isn't a problem but i might be able to get this engine for a bit less if im lucky. If it wasn't for vanos on the other working engine i'd be golden :(

subscribed as I intend to go the exact same route ,
already have M50swap and I bought a M54 block , but getting married within 3 months , might slow things Alot

one more thing, I remember that the rotating assembly of the M54 when used with the M50 block it actually gets lower Cr due the thinner gasket the M54 uses compared to the M50,
and by using the over sized M50 2" gasket you get somewhere near 9 Cr
dont you thing that 0.14 is a little over? Any idea what cr would that get u ?

With the .140 mls hg on a M50 would run around 9:1 CR which is ok by me, but being able to run 8.5:1 would be ideal. being that the M54 hg is thinner i'll most likely be between 8.5-9:1 because i've decided to use the m50 135mm con rods instead of using the M20B27 130mm con rods.

I was told by PEI330 (a M54 Guru) on E46Fanatics that the M54B30 pistons are made with the same material as the S52, and i know 600rwhp E36 M3's on stock pistons so i'll be good. That being said i wont need to worry about the M50 pistons.

10 months have passed, and today i finally started to break down my car..

After a few hours i've only managed

due to good ol' Florida weather.

I've decided to rebuild my 2nd M50v with my rebuilt nonvanos head, with the M54's crank + piston.. -The right way. Getting a engine shop to hone, balance, gap rings, to get the bottom end out the way, Not that it'll happen, but i'm looking to get done within the next month. Stripping the car bare until i decide what interior i'll be rocking.
