    A/C compressor bracket m50 swap

im hoping to run air conditioning on my m50 swapped eta. the bracket that holds the compressor onto the block has six bolts, two of which are behind the crank pulley.

i know the proper way to set this up is to use all six bolts and remove the crank pulley. my question is is it safe to only use the four easily accessible ones?

the four bolts pin the bracket to the block and prevent side to side movement where as the last two prevent forward and rearward movement. the bracket seems pretty damn snug but i figured id see what r3v says.

I ran mine with 4 for a long time. You don't have to remove the crank flange, just the harmonic balancer.

Just remove the belts, and the 6 bolts on the flange and its off.
    Past Car : E30 S50 6 Speed 5 Lug 3.73
Current : Z3 S50 OBD2 (Smog Legal) 6 Speed BBS RN Dual Ear Diff

Bam, the harmonic balancer can be removed separately. I would run with 6 bolts.

dont you need some type of puller to pull the balancer off?

no, just remove the 6 bolts and it should be easy to pull with bare hands

Spray liberal amounts of PB in there. Use a rubber mallet or a dead blow to persuade it off.
