    install headers after

    Hi
    i'm waiting for a friend selling me euro s50b32 headers for my m52 swap, but i must wait until september, is it possile to install the headers when the engine sits in the the car ? or it need to be out.

    its easier to do when the engine is out, but not impossible to do with the engine installed
    I saved 15% on my Bimmer parts by switching to ...

      WAY easier with the engine out. If you've got some other things you want/need to do to the engine that would be easier with it out, just pull it.

      If you do it while installed, suspend the engine from a hoist or block it from the bottom, and remove the passenger side engine mount. I'm told it still sucks balls.

        I did the header install on my m52 in the car. It was a royal pita to get to all of the bolts and line everything up but it is doable for sure.

          ^this. its such a PITA to do it when the engine is in, but doable. and plus, if you do itwith the engine out you dont run the risk of scratching and damaging up your wheel well, which i learned the hard way. ask me how, ahah

            Agreed with above. Some of the headers require you to remove the passenger side engine arm. Not fun stuff.
