Am about to order one from pelicanparts. I know a lot of people say that after market sensors are no to be trusted and to get OEM for best results and less headaches. But also some good feedback on the SIEMENS unit also.

SIEMENS is $40 cheaper than the OEM unit. Any of you guys had bad experiences with the SIEMENS unit?

Question. Where did you order you super secret crank sensor from. Unfortunately when I ordered mine, I was not aware that cheap eBay sensors are no good. So I bough it off eBay. Maybe. Maybe this could be my issue. But no code. Actually no codes at all.

I did replace the cam sensor with an OEM on after all, car runs waaay better but, after hitting rev limiter random misfires occur constantly and only goes away once I restart the car. And I put the obd2 throttle body back on, was not the issue. Replaced TPS with a good working one also.

Read also that these could be symptoms of a clogged catalytic converter. Well let's say it was not the case.

No time at the moment. Of course with a tune I can get most out of it but I figured it should be fine for now. Codes getting thrown are now p1519 & p1525 for cam and vanos timing. I'm probably going to be doing the timing again. Even though everything lined up after putting the engine together.

Running stock S52 flash? It wont ever pull to redline cleanly without a proper tune with the crank sensor setup.

Yea stock m52 tune. It pulls good till redline then after that random misfire. Goes away once I restart the car. Sometimes after redline it doesn't do the misfire. I just replaced the vanos solenoid with a good working one since it's a quick easy job and the p1519 & p1525 went away.

I'm running out of ideas. I'm gonna rebuild my spare working vanos, and install it once I'm quadriple checking cam and vanos timing. It's no cost to me since I already have spare seals and rattle bushing in my tool box.

Xmas no money season so that's one reason I haven't looked into getting a tune.

My only other thought again is the crank sensor which I bought off eBay. Which I now believe could be defective after reading so much about cheap non OEM sensors.

If only I had my daily driver, it got rear ended and totaled :(

I'm saying it's the tune. Nothing else will fix it.

Misfiring under load and sometimes just trying to open the throttle.

I'm assuming Harness and coil packs are good since they were on the car and were fine before I pulled the engine 2 months ago. I'm pulling my hairs once again. Plugs look fine also.

I am using the obd1 throttle body and no 2ndary air pump. That's all I've changed from stock.

As far as engine timing. I triple checked it and everything ligned up after rotating the assembly.

Anyone had these issues after doing this conversion? Any tips on where I should be looking at?

                  Any help greatly appreciated
@S.Low how did you remove your SAP system from the OBD2 harness. Passenger side is easy because it's only one relay, the SAP connecter, and ground strap.

Driver side is confusing me where it's the fuel pump and ECM relays, then the SAP relay with a power wire leading to a 12v terminal wire extending from the passenger to driver side.

How do I delete without burning the ground wire?

                  Thanks,
                  John

The sap is a four wire relay correct? When I deleted mine I just used a multi meter and traced all the wires. Power and ground for sap. 12v from battery. Common ground. And one wire to the dme. Which I just cut back and capped off. I believe what Fry's them is when you put a green relay in place of the purple sap relay.

Do you own a multi meter? Test for continuity on all the wires and trace everything. On my harness the sap relay was completely independent of the other 3 relays meaning they we're not connected in anyway except maybe battery 12v. I can look tonight at my notes but you need to triple check everything with a meter regardless.

Yeah, i was going to go at it with a multimeter tonight to test for continuity. So when you say you cut the wires, you mean the ones on the orange SAP relay? Nothing from the passenger side?

Edit: I'm an idiot, I think my harness already has that SAP relay disconnected on the driver side. Pic 3

So you simply unplugged that relay and left the 12v power going from driver to passenger side off?

The plug that goes into the SAP? Yeah just taped it off, no problems so far knock on wood. It's not a show car or anything, I just tucked it away nicely.
