Properly wire up a aftermarket fan?

Alright wtf...... with the fan turned off the car idles nice and smooth.... when i switch on the fan the car idles rough like droppping 300rpms and wants to stall. w/ no fan and light turned on its fine idle smooth drops 50rpm or 100...

the way i wired up my fan is with a relay and switch. fan goes to the relay connected with the switch. did i wire it up wrong to idle like this?

how would i wire it up? btw i am using the e30 aux fan and i have a m50 nv.

Relay like ... The stock relay or a spam relay? Can you provide a diagram of how it's wired? How much of the stock system did you use and did you tap into anything weird for power or ground or such?

alright i ditched the whole relay and switch set up and wired the stock aux fan to stock fan location. BUT i ditched the thermo temp switch on the radiator and jsut connect two and left one hanging. still idles like crap. this is driving me nuts. but if i disconnect the fan idle fine.

Sounds like you have a big a$$ short somewhere that's draining a lot of power. Try to feel around if any of the wiring gets hot.
I kept the OEM wiring including the resistor and hooked up the aftermarket fan to that. Now I have dual speed.

Almost sounds like youre creating a short and its pissing the alternator the F off causing the idle to go wack. When my 30 year old stock fan kicks on high speed on my personal pos it causes the idle to dive because of the amp draw.
