    TRM tune or turner chip?

Want to know what everyones opinions are on these two different tunes for our swaps. They both cost $250 so if someone has tried them both out on the same car and has feedback that would be awesome. I've heard TRM has good customer service as well. My car has a lightweight flywheel so im leaning towards TRM but a 22hp gain is pretty significant..

turner conforti chip claims 22hp and 19 tq i believe on the stock m50tu.

TRM has no hp claims but offers customization for commonly done mods such as bigger injectors, 540 maf, s50 cams or schrick cams.

which do you guys prefer or suggest for my m50? only mod is LW flywheel from JB racing.

It is not possible to make this much of additional power on a M50 2.5L just from a chip. More air needs to get into the engine to make additional power. BMW did a good job on the intake and exhaust so there is no hidden restriction. That turner chip add is for stupid people who don't even know how engine works. This is why I would trust TRM at least they don't lie about it and don't mention any power increase.

The turner chips are ancient and were never all that good.

I plan on going with the TRM because I've heard only good things about their chip. With TRM you can specifically detail what you plan on/are running.

I bought both for my M50TU swap. I ran each for a week and the TRM was a much better tune. The Turner chip had some VANOS "lag" but the TRM chip pulls hard all the way with much better torque below 3500 RPM.

So you are going to tell me that timing and fuel will not affect the power that an engine makes if you don't have more air going through it? You must have the turner chip

              I vote TRM.

Have run both. Turner's chip should be call JC Conforti's as he did the mapping for that chip. It was done some time ago but not much has changed since the engine came out.

Both chips are decent, but I like TRM's exchange policy. I currently have two of their chips with some old Conforti chips in my spare parts bin.

That als being said Turner used to sell the mix and match option list on the chips, just the E36 market died off for awhile hence why they don't advertise em anymore. Call Marco if your looking for a specific chip.

seems like the opinion is trm hands down. and theres a reason why i said they "claim" ridiculous gains like that, on a modified engine a tune will do a lot but stock theres no way. with that being said who has a trm tune for a LW flywheel :D

Got the TRM on mine. 3.5" MAF, headers, exhaust, pink injectors. Feels like a e30 with a s50 swap

He probably has a MarkD chip.

                              .
not really, very minimal on m50

on M50 it will effect it in very minimal way, like 5 hp here and there maximum, but not 20 hp
