Well, I just can't stop myself from messing with it.
This time around, I cut out the Borla and replaced it with a Dynomax 17776 chambered 3" in, 2x 2.5" out muffler. It is *barely* possible to get this monster in and plumb in two tips.
Net-net, the exhaust is quiet now. I will freely admit that the WOT growl isn't nearly as satisfying. Unfortunately, I'm apparently getting old, and I put around 10,000 miles a year on this car. (Which is quite a lot when you keep in mind that I walk to work most days.) The exhaust is now the next best thing to drone free - I don't really count uphill at 1700 RPMs in 6th gear as droning.
Fortunately, I won't be wasting the Borla. It will find a home in the M3.
Net-net, I'm pretty much at nando's recipe. It's too bad that dynomax doesn't make this thing in stainless. That's kind of offensive to me, but it's not like I can't easily weld a new one in when (if) it's ever needed.
