What is the open hole in the second picture for, pressure switch? Also what are the threads in the cooler ports?

After a little searching, I don't think the oil cooler ports are threaded. Can anybody confirm. The one I have here has AN fittings in it, but it looks like they are JB welded into the housing now that I look closer.
One of the fittings is broken off, seems like somebody tried to loosen it and sheared it off. Is there anything in there that will be melted if I take a torch to it and heat it? I haven't pulled it off yet, and have never had one off to look at.Comment

Theyre not threaded. Turner and others sell AN adapters.

This one is. Somebody must have threaded it for NPT. It has an NPT to AN fitting setup. If you don't run a oil cooler do you have to complete the circuit of the two ports or can you cap them off till a later date?Comment
