    Brake lines

So im putting my engine in tomorrow (finally) and am trying to get a few last minute things sorted before i do so.

i have a 745 brake booster and 2002 remote reservoir, not too sure about the MC but it is new. i know the front hard lines connect directly to the master cylinder, for the left and right calipers.

but ive had this car disassembled for so long i forget where the rear brake line that runs up along the frame rail with all the fuel lines connects to.

this is a non-abs car, four wheel disc. thanks for the help, ive tried using realoem but it hasnt helped me out much.

I think you're doing it wrong. You're saying you ran both of your front brake lines to each individual port on the MC? First off, what MC are you running? I'd have to check tonight but on my car (which has your exact setup) I ran the rear brake line to the front port on the MC. And by front I mean the one furthest away from the booster. Oh and I'm running an e34 MC. I'll have to take some pictures for you. But for the front lines, I used a t-fitting. And ran one line to the back MC port.

I'd be able to help more if you posted a picture of what you're working with.

My non ABS master cylinder has 3 ports. 2 for the front lines and a 3rd for the rear. I'd probably run a t fitting for the fronts if your new MC isn't set up the same.

Ahh yes, missed that part. But if you're using a different MC with two ports, you'll have to t off the front lines.

I got mine from the BMW dealership where I work at. I'll try and dig up a PN for you.

I ran all new lines from scratch. I got everything I needed from napa. The whole setup (without the flaring tool) probably costed less than $50?

Basically, since bubble flaring lines is hard, I ran two fittings that have a bubble flare on the end into the master. These fittings are meant to be used as adapter fittings so you can screw standard flare fittings into them. Ill upload a picture in a bit so its a bit more clear.

Here you can see the adapter bubble fittings along with the standard.

Heres the "T" and you can also see the port that goes to the rear brakes.

The port closest to the firewall goes to the fronts where you have the T. The port near the front of the bay goes to the solid line that goes to the rear brakes.

                  Hope this helps!
