Wiring up vss, sis, CEL, early model.

so i understand that the tach and fuel consumption for the obc are wired into the c104 connector in the glovebox. are they wired into the connector or into the wires leading away from the connector?

CEL is wired from pin 12 on the c101 to the white and black wire on the c1 on the back of the cluster. does this T into the wire or do i cut the wire and wire it into the connector?

is the speed input signal the same thing as the tach? im super confused right now and definitely need some r3v help! thanks guys.

Check out post #4 in this thread in regards to the tach.

This should help. I don't really have any input on anything else as I'm still working on them lol :)

i know where it hooks up but do i wire it into the connector or into the wires leading away from the connector (or do i T into it?) does that connector (c104 glovebox) get plugged in somewhere after the m50 goes in?

im pretty sure im making this harder then it is. my instinct is to wire all of them INTO the connector and removed the old wire/block it off that i replaced with the new wire, would this be correct? hope im making sense haha.

I think you're over thinking this bud. You just go into the wires leading away from plug. As far as I've seen since I've been driving my swap, that plug does not go into anything. Mines just sitting up inside the glovebox.

^youre looking at the wrong C104, that one is most likely for the 13 button OBC. The real C104 goes directly to cluster.

but both c104s are involved in the swap since i have an eta. i was under the assumption the one on the back of the cluster is actually c1 (cc plug) according to my etm

update: so now i have pin 8 on the e30 c101 wired to the yellow wire on c104 in the glove box. this is for fuel consumption for the OBC.

next up i have pin 14 on c101 also connecting to C104 in the glove box, this time to the black wire. this is labeled speed input signal by some people and tach by other people. some people call it vss. WHICH ONE IS IT.

is it safe to say im done with the c104 as various people have said the 2nd pin is not needed, so now i can go ahead and cut the connector head off and block off the 2nd pin?

then i have the to wire up pin 20, which is labeled as engine speed (tach) in my etm. some sources are saying this goes to the yellow plug on the back of the cluster, others are saying blue. which is it and which wire on these plugs as each of them have about 20+ pins IIRC.

thanks for everyone who has kicked in some knowledge. cross-referencing all these wiring diagrams and trying to follow the forums some times the info im receiving doesnt match up so i like to ask you guys before i hard wire anything.

so ive swapped pin 20 and pin 14 around? so 20 goes to c104 and 14 goes to the back of the cluster?

any word on the rest of my questions?

alot of the info im going off of was found here on r3v while searching.

post 7 eta sport lists the connections from c104 to c101.
