will m50tub25 head fit on b28 bottom end??

I am looking at 2 engines - the obd1 2.5 is running and the 2.8 apparently has a blown head gasket .....

my question is whether the 2.5 head will be a direct fit onto the 2.8 bottom end (which I am assuming is intact?!?)

I have looked into it and although it seems like it is feasible, there is no concrete answer as to direct fitment ..... any knowledge appreciated

I know they will fit. I do not know if the compression ratio will change.

Yes they will fit. Check the casting numbers on the head. What are you trying to do? Is one head cracked?

Hi thank you for the reply....
One of them will end up in a 91 318i with the 240 tranny - but I would rather have an obd1 2.8 (it is unfortunate that the situation is not reversed) - this would then go into the e30 with at least a refreshed head gasket, guides etc

tuning of the ecu would probably be in the cards but once I do the exhaust, the budget would come to a screeching halt = it has to work as is for a month or so ....

thats the whole story but this is standing in the way, so again, take the entire head, fuel rail and whetever else (please confirm what else i could take from the b25 top) and transfer onto the 2.8 bottom....?!?! yay or nay or what is the solution?

        help appreciated

So you plan on running this as OBD-II and keeping the M52 electronics?
