Considering switching from M42 to Mishi radiator, question on M20 bottle hoses

I've been running the M42 radiator for about 5k miles now. In Portland, OR the weather was mild enough where it was okay, although I feared traffic and I would not honestly recommend the M42 radiator. I know this is a heated debate (no pun intended) but in my experience, the 4-cyl radiator is simply not comfortably adequate. I have a 16" SPAL puller for those curious.

I'm back in the northeast now, and while winter is here and the car will mostly hibernate anyway, the summer heat was too much and I was forced to park the E30 more often than I would have liked. I'm planning an M20 oil cooler retrofit using S54 oil filter housing, but in the back of my mind I know this isn't really helping the water side. So I am also looking at what it is going to take to switch to an E36 radiator, which I'd probably just go Mishimoto on unless a local deal pops up on an OE takeoff. Maybe I'll try adding some form of fan shrouding but I don't think even the 16" puller can build enough flow to allow the 318 rad to work comfortably.

The swap sounds straightforward, I'll need the radiator driver's side mount? and of course M20 overflow and associated hoses. This is where my question comes in:

I've searched and browsed the engine bay thread, and actually I've seen hose #4 used and unused....

The main fill hose and the smaller radiator overflow hose are obvious, but it's not coming to me where #4 would come from - throttle body?

Any other tips on the matter are appreciated.

Hose #4 is just an overflow hose for the bottle itself. If it becomes too full or boils over, coolant spills out onto the ground through that hose.

Yep, M3PO is right on the money. You'll also need a radiator driver's side mount.

another question and figured I'd just bump this thread - will my SPAL 16" puller setup not fit with the E36/mishi radiator? I'd like to leave the condenser in place and avoid going to a pusher setup.
