    Help needed 16-17 AFR's m50tub28

So i recently build a m50tub28 using the following combo:

    m52 crank
    m52 rods
    m50tu pistons
    m50tu block
    m50NV head with s50 cams
    stock 17# injectors
    stock maf
    using 413 ecu from a 1993 325i

    which should end as a 2.8l with 11.0:1 CR, the block was completly refreshed;

fresh hone, new rings, rod & main bearings, guides and tensioner, new stock thickness HG, etc..

the head has new valve seals and the valves themselves were reground and they are sitting as they should.

the engine has about 400-500 miles into the brake-in, did a compression test yesterday (warm engine) and the results are:

    1 - 180
    2 - 175
    3 - 180
    4 - 180
    5 - 185
    6 - 180

today i was doing a baseline dyno and here is what is messing with my mind

    180whp
    152wtq
    and 16-17 afr's

the run was done in 3rd and we did only one because of the bad afr's

please feel free to comment and possibly help me identifing the problem, i know that i am using the wrong map for the engine as i have more CR than stock and more displacement than the 2.5l but 17 is too damn high?

    what do you guys recommend?

    thank you in advance!

Exhaust leaks, even very small can throw off AFR's especially if it's a dyno's clamp on type.

      Then why such low power?

What tune are you using? I would probably be running at least 21.5 lbs injectors as that is what the factory uses in the M52b28. Any vac leaks?

Edit: saw that you have the wrong tune fix what you know is broken first then recheck.

so the 180whp is just an exagerated number of the 3rd gear on the g260?

what tune you'll recommend? trm asked $650 for a chip.. any feedback on the Miller WAR?

i read on, and found that i have the stock m50nv fuel rail with the FPR which if i'm not mistaken is 3.0bar and the m52 has a 3.5bar from factory, is this correct?

Edit: both use the same p/n 3.5bar

Low power is due to the tune. Asking for problems running that tune with a motor built like that.

You splurged on building a motor and you want to risk destroying it with lack of a tune?

^This. You cant run that motor properly on a STOCK 2.5L M50 tune and stock M50 injectors.

oh and 11:1 CR?! With no tune? your asking to grenade that thing.

thank you guys, although i only ran the car for couple of miles for the brakein, no abuse. i will stop it until i get software

what tune you guys recommend? i have acces for 91, 93, 100 oct on local gas stations.

i have a set of pinks ready to install, but the CR being 11:1, the 21.5 will be enough?

4-500 miles is NOT a couple. At those AFRs, you are lucky you didn't break it in that amount of time.

i honestly don't think was that much maybe 200-250miles tops, anyways thats too much for the afr and i neglected, but what are the options?

the comp test came out good so next step is to install the injectors, tune it and see what happens

I would probably run MS3 if/when I build that motor.

i just installed the pink tops (not running it untill software) but i was thinking that it may need 24's instead

and about the software, you don't think that a chip (war, trm, turner) can't handle it? i have access to 91,93 and 100oct at the local gas stations.

                        what do you think?

                              better numbers!

                              well yes, there an update.

i went to the dyno yesterday and did 3 passes one with the same ecu with the pink tops installed (just to check the last afr readings, i wasn't expecting a change with the injectors but to make sure the reading was accurate)

                              other 2 with a 413 from a s50 swapped e30 which has 3.5hfm and 24lbs, that car made 210whp on 4 passes.

here is my new dyno sheet:

                              best run:
                              209whp
                              194wtq

considerably better and it can be better with the correct tune, as you can see, the line is not smooth at the mid-top end.

230whp possible? i liked the torque although it went down passed 4-4.5k rpms, but then again not the correct tune. the afr went down to 14-14.5 avg

will get a comparative sheet between the s50 and my m50 with rpm instead of mph on wednesday.

what do you guys think about this?, thanks in advance!
